Cochrane
Advanced Review-author Support Program (CARS)
This program is aimed at experienced
review authors (must have at least one published review
in The Cochrane Library) who lack time or resources
to update their reviews. The program offers some technical
support with discrete tasks involved in updating a review
(eg. running a search, entering data) for up to 10 hours
per successful application.
Applicants must be able to clearly define the tasks
they wish to have
undertaken on the application form. For example, provide
a clearly designed data extraction form with enough
information so that someone without content knowledge
could extract data from a trial. Additionally, successful
applicants must be prepared to communicate with ACC
staff to clarify tasks and provide further information
as necessary.
Review authors are at all times responsible for the
quality and content of the updated review. All decisions
about the process and methods of the review, particularly
decisions about inclusion and exclusion of studies,
remain their responsibility.
Applications (see application form) will be accepted
at any time. We have a discrete budget and will accept
applications according to current workload, using a
waiting list if necessary, to ensure that we provide
support to as many Australasian review authors as possible.
There is an expectation that successful recipients of
CARS will publish the updated review within 12 months
of receiving CARS support.
