Cochrane workshop, Kuala Lumpur, November 2006

The last few years have seen a steady increase in the number of review authors from Malaysia. The stimulus for this activity has been the SEA-ORCHID Project which has provided training and support for several review teams.

In April 2004, the first Cochrane review workshop was held at the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak in Ipoh. Since then follow-up workshops and work-ins have been held in Ipoh and in Kota Bharu at Universiti Sains Malaysia. In November 2006, a two-day How to conduct a Cochrane systematic review was held at the Health Technology Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Health in Kuala Lumpur.

The coordination of Cochrane activities in Malaysia is being overseen by our local SEA-ORCHID Project investigator, Dr Jackie Ho. Those interested in becoming involved in Cochrane activities should first contact the relevant Cochrane review group. Dr Ho is also able to offer support and advice, and can help link new contributors with existing groups of review authors.
