Cochrane people - Consumers and communication group

Editorial Base
The Consumers and Communication Review Group is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of reviews in The Cochrane Library on how best to communicate with people about their health and health care.  The international Editorial Base is located at the School of Public Health, Latrobe University, Victoria, Australia.  

 

The group  is funded by the Victorian Government Department of Human Services and the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. 

The group's reviews fall into four broad categories:

  1. Interventions affecting the benefit individual consumers gain from consultations or episodes of care:
    a) Interventions relating to communication during consultations or episodes of care
    b) Interventions relating to health care decision making
  2. Interventions affecting consumer participation in health-care planning, policy and research
  3. Techniques and media for communicating information to consumers
  4. Placebo effects

Australia's contribution 

  • The international editorial base for the Consumers and Communication Review Group is based at Latrobe University, Victoria Australia
  • The coordinating editor and the review group coordinator are both Australian.
  • There are five other Australians on the editorial team including the trial search coordinator
  • The Victorian Government Department of Human Services and  the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing provide funding for the editorial base who support reviewers and review activity globally
  • Thirty three Australian reviewers have published reviews or protocols. View full list of Australian reviewers
