Marie Misso first joined the Australasian Cochrane Centre
in 2000 as a casual, assisting in various roles while
completing her PhD at Monash University/Prince Henry's
Institute of Medical Research.
In June 2004, with a PhD in molecular mechanisms of
metabolic disease, her transition to health services
research at the Centre began with a Cochrane review
under the Cochrane Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders
Group.
Marie now co-ordinates the Policy
Liaison Initiative, a collaboration between the
ACC and the Australian Government Department of Health
and Ageing to encourage the use of evidence, particularly
Cochrane reviews, in policy making. She is a unit co-ordinator
for the Graduate
Certificate in Evidence-Based Practice, has contributed
to various research projects within the Centre and is
currently involved in a project with the National Heart
Foundation to develop guidelines for assessment of absolute
cardiovascular disease
risk.
