Fiona Dickson joined the Australasian Cochrane Centre in July 2008 as a project manager. Fiona’s primary role is to oversee the NHMRC funded three year project on evidence-based care of people with dementia, being undertaken in partnership with the Health Ageing Research Unit.
The project, called IRIS “Investigating Research Implementation Strategies”, is aligned to several research projects currently underway at the Centre designing and testing the effectiveness of targeted implementation strategies to increase the use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines by general practitioners.
Fiona has been affiliated with the Monash Institute of Health Services Research since July 2005, commencing with the Centre for Clinical Effectiveness before joining the Health Operations Research Unit (HORU) in August 2006 as a Senior Project Officer. She has worked with clinicians and managers on numerous projects, to improve the safety and quality of care of older people in hospital.
Fiona has a Masters of Public Health from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Before making the transition to health services research Fiona worked as a physiotherapist in aged care and rehabilitation and is passionate about improving the quality of care of older people.
